I joined Rockaway Capital as an investment analyst and spent my time with the investment team backing the firm’s bets—public markets during the COVID era, and deep sector work when a theme needed more than a slide.
Public equities in that period were not abstract: you watched liquidity, drawdowns, and the gap between a thesis on paper and what the tape was doing week to week. It was a good place to learn how investors argue, stress-test, and disagree without pretending markets are polite.
The stint that stuck with me was a long research push on e-grocery across Europe—how the category was consolidating, who was actually winning on unit economics, and where a portfolio bet could make sense. That work did not stay in a deck; it is what opened the door to Košík, one of Rockaway’s portfolio companies, and the path I took into product and growth there.
Working with the investment guys at Rockaway was an interesting chapter—more investor rhythm than operator rhythm, and a useful lens before I moved to the other side of the table.
